When the plane to Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas began to board, I had to turn off my computer before any photographs were able to upload.聽 If all goes according to plan, the photos for Day 1 will be included in a gallery at the end of this post.
During flights, no matter where I鈥檓 going, one of my favorite things to do is to look at the faraway landscapes and the strangely-close clouds.聽 While I have stared at many a sky, I have to say, I鈥檓 not sure I鈥檝e ever seen such a variety of clouds all in the sky at the same time as I did on the flight down to Chiapas.聽 What a wide variety of color, texture, layers, size, density!聽 I hope you, dear reader, don鈥檛 mind that I took a couple of pictures to share with you.
The flight descended into a beautifully lit city and touched down without a problem.聽 Yet within a minute of landing, a dense fog enveloped the runway, and I heard some concern as to whether it would be too difficult for us to pass through the mountains that night.聽 Our wonderful guide, Teresa Ortiz, met us at the airport, and she sat us down to go over our trip鈥檚 final itinerary as we waited for the van to arrive.
